Custom Knife making for me is a way to express myself in an artistic and useable way. I never do the same thing twice and am not interested in mass production knives. Each knife is handmade with an eye towards beauty and usefulness.
I primarily use High Carbon steels such as 1084, 1095, O1 etc and prefer them to stainless steels. While I tend to just make whatever suits me at the time, I have been known to take customer designs, tweak them and come up with a coloborative effort knife design.
Why handmade, one off knives? These knives have more value to the customer than a store bought, mass produced knife. As many are gifts, it adds a very personal touch.
